From May to Oct 2025, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation was the main distributor of food in Gaza. Backed by the United States and Israel, the GHF system had powerful political support. So what made it so dangerous?

With the programme now suspended, Airwars visualises for the first time how the GHF system placed civilians in direct danger in their attempt to access life-saving aid. Airwars reconstructed two aid distributions to examine the roles of U.S. private security contractors manning aid sites and the Israel Defense Forces guarding their perimeter. Based on hours of footage, and interviews with Palestinians who visited the sites and two former GHF contractors, we found that the management and design of the aid delivery system made civilian harm near inevitable.
